We are The Achyuta Niratah Trust
The Achyuta Niratah Trust is an 80G 12A certified NGO collaborating with Renuka Eye Institute to provide extensive eye-care services. Our ‘DRISHTI-VAHAN’ mobile eye van, launched in 2022, transports patients from remote areas of North 24 Parganas to hospitals for surgery, returning them home post-surgery. Since inception, we’ve conducted free eye camps and surgeries under India’s National Programme for Control of Blindness and West Bengal’s Chokher Alo. Soon, we’ll equip the van with modern facilities like computerized eye check-ups, slit-lamp screening, and tele-ophthalmic units to offer free doorstep screenings for preventable visual impairments.
Our Mission Bringing Vision Unreached
- Enhance accessibility to eye care services in underserved areas.
- Increase awareness about the importance of regular eye examinations.
- Strengthen the capacity of existing eye care facilities.
- Provide affordable eye care solutions for individuals with limited financial resources.
- Develop sustainable strategies to ensure long-term access to eye care services.
- Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to identify target communities, assess existing infrastructure, and understand local healthcare challenges.
- Develop partnerships with local stakeholders, including healthcare facilities, community organizations, and government agencies.
- Secure funding through grants, corporate sponsorships, and public-private partnerships to support the project’s implementation and sustainability.
- Recruit and train a multidisciplinary team of local youth who shall work as allied healthcare
- Conduct extensive comprehensive eye screening camps to identify clusters of patients requiring eye-care and surgery.
- Establish a monitoring and evaluation framework to track our progress, impact, and effectiveness. Regularly assess the reach and quality of services provided and make necessary adjustments as required.
- Continuously engage with the target communities through awareness campaigns, workshops, and feedback sessions to ensure community participation and ownership.
- Enhance our efforts in dispensing same day eye glasses, low cost medicines and fast-tracking the surgeries of patients identified.
- Procure necessary equipment for mobile eye care units, including examination tools, diagnostic instruments, and treatment supplies.
Our Vision A Future Free from Blindness
At The Achyuta Niratah Trust ,by implementing this comprehensive approach to improving access to eye care services, we aim to bridge the gap in eye health disparities, especially in underserved areas. Through mobile eye care units, community outreach programs, capacity building, and partnerships, we can ensure that individuals receive timely and affordable eye care, leading to improved quality of life and reduced visual impairment. We wish to lay the foundation for sustainable eyecare services that prioritize inclusivity and accessibility for all in West Bengal and India

Our future EYE BANK will serve as a crucial hub for collecting, preserving, and distributing donated corneas.
